Emile easter blog bonanza

Who's the most gorgeous kid in the Benelux then? Well, obviously, I AM:

But... the time is nigh that this little prince will no longer be the sole star of the blog. Plus your trusty editor won't have any time to add very much, most likely! So... just to pre-compensate - here is something to tie you all over for the time being! Some souvenirs (17, to be precise) of 2 lovely weekends in Belgium:

Emile absolutely loooooved 'nokkel' (i.e. uncle Frank! nonkel being Flemish dialect for 'm'n onkel', or uncle).

Oma drove all the way down for the weekend.
What fun to play with mama. And to poke her eyes out!

Easter 2008: nice weather 'eh? One minute you're eating ice cream in the sun, the next... snow storm! Not quite California...
But what Belgium does have, is lots and lots of really fun cousins to play with!
Goofy cousin Thomas teaching Emile a thing or 2 about being really suave.

And who doesn't like playing with lego.
Whether you're 1, 11 or 23... endless hours of fun.

Staying up really late (at least till 8) for a big family dinner.
(Not that this would make Emile eat, but it was gezellig anyway).

The local wildlife is always a highlight of our visits to Schilde. Emile flanked by 'Omalala' and 'Opalala'. See the family resemblance?

And - more monkeys still: Catherine's quite comfy...And Evelyn teaches Emile the basics of astro-physics: it all happens up there
Now then - although Belgium is quite well-known for its avant-garde haute-couture, Schilde quite doesn't quite seem to have caught on to this...
Yellow socks, purple shirt, white leggings... WHAT??? Well - what's a boy to do when water spills all over, and no spare clothes? Raid Annick's wardrobe, that's what, and find something - anything - that fits!

We had a fun trip to the kinderboerderij ('petting farm') right there in Brasschaat and saw all kinds of really scary animals. Lambs, piglets, ponies... brrrrr!

Then, Emile's first real Easter egg hunt!
(plus some 'coconuts') ;)

"nog eitje"

And after all that fun, it's high time for a good, comfy nap.
Slaap lekker!!
(who knows... it may happen someday...)

let's hope that kid no. 2 makes up in brains what (s)he lacks in beauty (like his/her Oma) 'cause no one can compete with this beautiful child.
Thank you, Mama, for all the photos. I think there may be one or two photos to come before No. 2 comes along!
Enjoy the "calm" before the storm...!
