St Nick and/or Santa
So, here we are again almost at Sinterklaas (Dec. 5). If we had a better internet connection in this house I would be sharing adorable film footage of Emile's vast repertoire of Sinterklaas songs. Never heard him sing a note, and now all of a sudden he can do about 7 different songs, flawlessly, several couplets long and complete with often archaic wording. Might have something to do with the fact that you sometimes get presents in your shoe if Sinterklaas and his helpers hear you sing...
But anyway. Whatever the date is, Emile really, really wanted a Xmas tree.
So, here it is already. Bit early for my taste but it's gezellig none the less. Our 3 year old loves it. And pretty it is too, of course: full of grandma's hand-made, child-proof, cute Xmas ornaments!
Anyway ~ why not have a Xmas tree for Sinterklaas... Fundamentally, Saint Nicholas and Santa are the same guy, right!

In England, not having Sinterklaas, we all put our Christmas tree up on Dec 1st. So it's not that crazy... except that you have Sinterklaas!
Maybe Emile can sing his Sinterklaasliedjes for us when we see you at Christmas.
Oh, and Sinterklaas and Santa (Father Christmas) are cousins, silly!
A Christmas tree is a wondrous thing, so it's nice to have one of those, even if you do celebrate Sinterklaas. Hope the cat stays clear of it, though... yeah, right!
They are not the same person. After pakjesavond, they get together at the castle and Sinterklaas gives Santa the list of presents that the kids wanted but did not get.
oh! I like that one!!! :-D
